Controlled-Air Combustion of Loaded Carbon
Gold processing plants running carbon-in-leach (CIL) or carbon-in-pulp (CIP) circuits use activated carbon to adsorb dissolved gold from the leach slurry. Loaded carbon is stripped of its gold in an elution circuit, and the barren carbon is thermally reactivated and returned to the process.
Through repeated cycling, some of that carbon breaks down into fine particles too small for the circuit's retention screens to hold. These carbon fines still carry adsorbed gold, and without a recovery step they report to tailings or are lost from the circuit entirely.
Our carbon fines furnace recovers that value. Fines are fed into a refractory-lined chamber and combusted under controlled combustion air. The carbon burns off as temperature is held through the cycle, while the gold, unaffected by combustion, concentrates in the ash left behind. That ash is collected and sent on for smelting or refining.
Chamber temperature and combustion air are the two variables that govern how completely the carbon burns off and how consistently gold reports to the ash, which is why both are held under active control rather than set once and left.

Recovering Value from Gold Processing Circuits
Carbon fines furnaces serve gold mines and processing plants running CIL or CIP circuits, including operators such as AngloGold Ashanti and Barrick Gold, wherever loaded carbon fines would otherwise be lost to tailings instead of recovered as gold-bearing ash.

Engineered to Protect Recovery
Two models, sized to your fines volume
The C10 CF and C100 CF cover a range of circuit sizes, so the furnace is matched to how much loaded carbon your plant actually generates, not oversized or undersized against it.
Controlled combustion for consistent recovery
Chamber temperature and combustion air are held through the cycle rather than left to drift, so gold reports to the ash consistently, run after run.
Emissions control options
Gas cleaning is specified against the emission limits that apply on your site, the same framework we apply across our thermal process range.
Built for mine site duty
Refractory, structure and controls are engineered for the same remote, dusty operating conditions as the rest of our thermal process equipment.
In-house engineered combustion control
Combustion control and instrumentation are developed in-house, the part of a high-temperature unit where recovery and emissions performance are actually won or lost.
Turns a loss stream into recovered value
Fines that would otherwise report to tailings become a revenue line instead, recovered as gold-bearing ash ready for smelting or refining.
Emissions and Safety, Independently Certified
The carbon fines furnace is high-temperature thermal plant, so it is specified against the same emissions framework as the rest of our range, supporting the EU Industrial Emissions Directive (2010/75/EU) and South African NEM:AQA, with the applicable limits and any gas cleaning confirmed for each project. Our quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management systems are independently certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Two Models, Sized to Your Fines Volume
Both models share the same combustion and control philosophy. Per-model throughput, feed configuration and footprint are confirmed at quotation stage against your circuit's fines volume.
Smaller CIL/CIP operations and satellite plants processing a lower volume of loaded carbon fines.
